have done it.”
34 “You were born a total sinner!” they answered.
“Are you trying to teach us?” And they threw him out
of the synagogue.
40 Some Pharisees who were standing nearby
heard him and asked, “Are you saying we’re blind?”
41 “If you were blind, you wouldn’t be guilty,” Jesus
replied. “But you remain guilty because you claim
you can see.
Spiritual Blindness
The Good Shepherd and His Sheep
When Jesus heard what had happened, he found the
man and asked, “Do you believe in the Son of Man?*”
36 The man answered, “Who is he, sir? I want to
believe in him.”
37 “You have seen him,” Jesus said, “and he is speaking to you!”
38 “Yes, Lord, I believe!” the man said. And he worshiped Jesus.
39 Then Jesus told him,* “I entered this world to
render judgment—to give sight to the blind and to
show those who think they see* that they are blind.”

“I tell you the truth, anyone who sneaks over
the wall of a sheepfold, rather than going
through the gate, must surely be a thief and a robber!
2 But the one who enters through the gate is the shepherd of the sheep. 3The gatekeeper opens the gate for
him, and the sheep recognize his voice and come to
him. He calls his own sheep by name and leads them
out. 4After he has gathered his own flock, he walks
ahead of them, and they follow him because they
know his voice. 5They won’t follow a stranger; they
will run from him because they don’t know his voice.”

SCRIPTURE CONNECTION: JOHN 10:1-21
Jesus said, “The thief’s purpose is to steal
and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give
them a rich and satisfying life” (10:10).
Sometimes we need reminding that life is
meant to be lived to the full. That it is okay
to enjoy ourselves, to let our hair down, to
worry less. Because as far I can tell, this is
exactly how God intended for us to live—
fully and abundantly.
Are you living your life to the full? Are
you waking up each day grateful, joyful, and
hopeful?
Jesus says to us, “I am the good shepherd; I know my own sheep, and they know
me” (10:14).
As we spend time with Jesus and learn
his voice, we begin to know deep in our
souls that we are protected and that he is
for us. This allows us to relax and trust that
God is working out everything for our good
(Romans 8:28). He teaches us the way to go,
when to run to him, and when it’s safe to go
out into the pasture. He has prepared the
way for us, and we can trust him along the
journey. We don’t need to live as if it is all up
to us, for we are led by the Good Shepherd
who leads us toward green pastures and
guards us as we rest.
REFLECT “I am the good shepherd. The
good shepherd sacrifices his life for the
sheep.” JOHN 10:11
Lord Jesus, you are so good, kind, gentle,
and trustworthy. Thank you for your tender
care, your sacrificial love, and your protection. Increase my faith so that I may continue to follow you in confidence, walking
in joy and full of hope. Allow your definition
of full to define my life in every way. Amen.
