Week 52 Devotional
Along the way of a journey, there are moments of excitement, moments of confusion, and moments when the
path feels difficult to continue. But when you arrive at the final pages, you begin to see the whole story more
clearly.
The journey of this year and these devotions began with a vision for growing stronger4together and in God’s
Word. And similarly, the journey of the Bible begins with God bringing order out of chaos. Something out of
nothing.
The Bible ends with a vision of renewal.
After all the stories of struggle, redemption, faith, failure, and restoration, Scripture points us toward a future
where God makes all things new. Not just repaired. Not simply improved. New.
The promise at the end of the story reminds us that the brokenness we experience now is not the final word.
Pain, loss, injustice, and sorrow do not have the last chapter.
God does.
Throughout the Bible we see God moving toward his people again and again4calling, rescuing, and restoring.
And in this final vision we see the fulfillment of that long story.
God dwelling with his people. Every tear noticed. Every wound seen. Every sorrow redeemed.
This is the hope that carries believers forward4not the promise that life will always be easy but the
assurance that God is bringing his story to completion.
As we reach the final week of reading through Scripture together, we are reminded that faith is not just about
where we have been but about where God is leading us.
I’ve faltered some weeks in my writing journey4crafting fifty-two devotions is a lot! And I’ve faltered some
weeks in my living journey4becoming more aware of my own shortcomings and areas where I still need to
grow.
But I also have grown stronger with God and more hopeful that this story begins, is, and will always be about
how he brings order out of chaos, something out of nothing, good out of bad4and it’s all pointing to good.
While I’m still growing4and you are too4the unfolding story continues. And the ending is full of hope.
As I end this journey, I’m not in England anymore4I’m much closer to home. I’m literally writing this from the
same room I lived in as a child. It’s now made new4as an office, not a little girl’s bedroom. No birds are
singing outside, but my new puppy makes bird sounds, which makes everyone laugh. I feel more settled4in
God’s story and my own. And I’m especially glad that he’s with me today, already making me new, and that
one day that work will be perfectly completed for us all..
