Week 8 Devotional
But there’s another thing out of balance here: Fear overtaking faith. Brain science shows we are wired as humans to
protect4to hold on to fears and amplify them more than we hold on to hope. But, if we let our brains focus on risk
over God’s rewards, fear over faith, danger over the divine, we live out of a human reality that ignores the reality of
God’s power and kindnesses to us.
As I think about our also-human brothers in this passage, I think about believing what we know from experience4
even if we don’t see the whole picture yet. We see earlier in the Torah that these spies did know God’s mighty power4
it had led them to trust God and Moses:
