Week 25 Devotional
I’m writing this during the joy of this eight-day respite. Already, we’ve shared feeling the moist salt air, seeing sea
turtles while snorkeling, and discovering fruits we’ve never tasted before. We’ve enjoyed great conversation in the
early mornings on the couch, over coffee, and at dinners. We’ve always begun by thanking God for this time.
But most of all, I love the time with these friends, whose hearts beat pure in caring for others4including us. And
even more, I’m awed by the idea of being like the disciples in this passage4being with Jesus, doing life, lingering
awhile. That’s what I want too.

PRAY ER
Dear God, I feel so encouraged in reading how Jesus honored the disciples’ hunger to be
with him. I love that Jesus didn’t just welcome them to a religious service or ask them to
do some holy work4but called them to do life together. Like the disciples, I want to spend
today with you. Jesus, thank you that4with you4I am always welcome, always invited, and
never alone. Amen.
