GOD’S STORY
Colossians 3:1-17
Since God chose you to be the holy people he loves, you
must clothe yourselves with tenderhearted mercy, kindness,
humility, gentleness, and patience. Make allowance for each
other’s faults, and forgive anyone who offends you.
Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive
others.

Have you ever had a day where you have to decide between going with the most comfortable but least attractive
clothes or making a bit more of an effort so you present a message that says to those you’ll see on Zoom and in
person that you care enough about the meeting to look nice? And subtly, that you value yourself too?
It’s almost a daily thing for me. I know I need to wear the nice blouse and the earrings, but will it be jeans or
leggings and my sandals on the bottom half? Or will I choose those business casual slacks to make the look
complete from head-to-toe?
When our attention is fixed only on the pressures of daily life, it becomes easy to feel overwhelmed by what is
urgent, frustrating, or uncertain. And while dressing for comfort is a great thing, it’s easy to settle for what is
familiar rather than reach for what is a bit better.
Paul invites believers to put on the better clothes. We are not to ignore earthly realities but to remember that our
identity and our purpose is rooted somewhere deeper than what feels right on any given day.
We belong to Christ, so let’s
