Week 51 Devotional
Spiritual maturity rarely happens in the moments when everything is smooth. More often, it grows quietly in the
middle of a challenge4when we keep trusting God even when we don’t yet see the outcome.
This kind of endurance isn’t dramatic. It doesn’t always look impressive from the outside.
It looks like continuing to believe that God will use this for good.
Then continuing to ask God for his way in the trouble, letting him order my day, my emotions, and my words4and
coming back to him regularly when I get those disordered. Then asking him4and others4for forgiveness while
trusting that he’s not done with me yet.
Over time, those small steps of faithfulness shape a deeper strength. And that strength becomes part of who we
are becoming and something we can lend to others in their trials too.

PRAY ER
Dear God, I have to admit that my trials tempt me to think that somehow, they can’t be used
for good. That the situation is somehow out of your sight or control. That’s not true, God, and I
thank you for that. Thank you that I can trust you and know that even in this unwanted thing,
you are with me, and you can use it for good4my good and, in time, others’ good too. I trust
you, God. Amen.
